What stays in your browser
Image composition, titles, notes, markers and export generation run in your browser. This tool has no accounts and does not upload your composed images to an application server. Downloaded files are saved through your browser’s normal download process. Close the page to release its working image memory.
Requests to other services
Opening the comparison tool loads NASA’s reference map. Date searches and image loading send the selected area, product and dates to NASA CMR and GIBS. These providers receive normal connection information such as your IP address and browser details. When you use place search, the text you submit is sent to Geoapify. These features require external requests and do not work entirely offline.
When search is enabled, submitting sends your search text and language to Geoapify, along with connection details such as your IP address, browser and site origin. Typing alone sends no search request.
Selecting an area or applying coordinates automatically sends that area, the selected product and bounded target-date searches to NASA CMR/GIBS to load the comparison. You can cancel loading.
The link contains coordinates, zoom, source and dates. Your title, note and markers are excluded unless selected; selected items appear in the image and link. Edited caption text is shared separately. The receiving app controls what it accepts.
Links, storage and site delivery
A shared link contains readable view settings, dates and any included labels. Anyone with the link can read them; avoid sensitive text. The image is requested again when the comparison loads. Language choice and, if available, your analytics choice are stored locally. Search and imagery caches are bounded and kept only in memory. The website host or CDN may process ordinary access logs for delivery and security; third-party retention follows their own policies.
Optional audience analytics
Google Analytics is optional and loads only after you allow analytics. The controls below show its availability and your choice; you can decline or withdraw consent. Page addresses sent for analytics exclude query strings and shared fragments, and unknown page paths are grouped as not-found pages. Entered places, coordinates, titles, notes and markers are not sent as event fields. Advertising storage, Google signals and ad personalization are disabled. Declining analytics does not prevent you from using the tool.
